Q: What is Botox? Is there bacteria in it? TOP
A: Botox is purified protein. There are no live bacteria involved.
Q: How does Botox work? TOP
A: Botox blocks the signal to the muscles that contract with certain facial
expressions.
Q: How long does treatment take? TOP
A: Botox treatment is usually completed in about 30 minutes. Often this can be quicker
if combined with other dental care in the same appointment.
Q: Does it hurt? TOP
A: You will receive several tiny injections and discomfort is very minimal.
Q: How much Botox will you need to treat my wrinkles? TOP
A: Botox is measured in units and amount needed depends upon severity of the
patient’s wrinkles.
Q: Will my face be numb? TOP
A: No. Some patients experience a non-painful sensation similar to skin feeling “dry,”
which lasts a few hours.
Q: What possible side-effects should I know about? TOP
A: Possible side effects: nausea (flu like symptoms), eyelid droop or headache. These
possible side effects are minimized by proper technique.
Q: What are the long-term effects? TOP
A: Your body will eventually re-route that signal and return to normal function. If you
stop using Botox, you will go back to the way you looked before with no accumulative
side effects at all.
Q: What should I expect? TOP
A: After treatment, facial muscle activity is decreased not paralyzed. Muscles are
actually relaxed, and Botox can make you look refreshed, relaxed and less angry.
Properly administered, Botox makes you look healthier. It takes 3-7 days to see initial
effect and about 10-14 days for the full effect. We have all our patients back in two
weeks to be sure they look and feel great. Slight enhancements can be done at that
time if needed.
Q: Do I need to change my lifestyle? TOP
A: Maybe temporarily: You should avoid alcohol, exercise and sun exposure for 24
hours after treatment. You should also avoid any "detoxification” treatments for two
weeks.
Q: How long does Botox treatment last? TOP
A: Typical Botox treatment lasts about 4 months. For many patients duration may
increase slightly with consistent sequential treatments.

Q: What is Juvederm? TOP
A: Hyaluronic acid (HA): HA exists naturally in all living organisms and is found mainly
in the skin. Juvederm, Restylane and Perlane are forms of HA; and are used as
temporary dermal fillers.
Q: How does Juvederm/HA work? TOP
A: HA fillers restore lost volume to the facial tissues setting the clock back by filling up
wrinkles. HA treatments are curative and preventative.
Q: How much HA will you need to treat my wrinkles? TOP
A: HA comes in syringes and number needed depends upon severity of the patient’s
wrinkles.
Q: What possible side-effects should I know about? TOP
A: Possible side effects: bruising or tenderness in the treated areas.
Q: What are the long-term effects? TOP
A: HA treatment is completely reversible with no accumulative side effects at all.
Q: Can everyone have HA treatment? TOP
A: Some patients with certain cosmetic procedures or multiple severe allergies may not be good candidates for HA treatment.
Q: How long does treatment take? TOP
A: After an initial consultation, Juvederm treatment is usually completed in about 60
minutes. Often this can be quicker if combined with other dental care in the same
appointment.
Q: Does it hurt? TOP
A: We keep our Juvederm patients comfortable with local anesthetic making the
discomfort minimal.
Q: What should I expect? TOP
A: Treatment with Juvederm or other dermal fillers can smooth wrinkles that are caused
by the loss of volume that accompanies aging. You will notice a more full
appearance in treated areas. Effects of dermal filler treatment are evident
immediately. Contours are improved as the filler is added; the more subtle lines in
the skin diminish over time as volume is maintained in the tissue. We have all our
patients back in two weeks to be sure they look and feel great. Slight enhancements
can be done at that time if needed.

A: Maybe temporarily: You should avoid exercise, alcohol, other facial dermal
procedures and excessive sun for the first 24-48 hours. You should also avoid any
“detoxification” treatments for two weeks.

A: Typical Juvederm treatment lasts 6-12 months. Continued maintenance is critical to
maintain results.

A: It's simple and easy! All you have to do is schedule a wellness appointment with one
of our consultants and complete a wellness assessment to better understand your
health. Once an assessment has been completed, one of our consultants will sit
down with you and review your results with you. We will make personalized

A: Though we are not medical doctors, we are simply sharing wellness

physician, medical specialist, or urgent care facility will be made
appropriately for further evaluation.
